I've decided to start a little list of challenges for everyone. I know you are all out there reading these little blog posts and wondering what I'd do next so here it is, the monthly challenge.
Each month I'll throw a challenge out there for all of us. It might be designed to get you going on your bike or to change a dietary habit or develop some other habit that will help you reach your goals. No matter what the challenge is I promise they will make you work for them!
I'm calling this one, Catch the Rabbit in honor of my brother-in-law. Dave is like me in that he is an Army veteran, so endurance work is nothing new to him. He is different in that he likes to run a lot more than I do, but he also knows how to have fun on his trusty road steed. When Dave goes out riding he likes to entertain himself by finding other riders up the road from him and he works like mad to catch them. He calls these folks "his little rabbits". So this one is for you Dave. For the next month on every ride I want you all to try and catch your own rabbit. When you see someone up the road from you, your goal will be to simply catch them. As often as you can for as long as you can. You don't need to alter your route to chase them necessarily, but try your hardest to catch them. If you are able to catch them feel free to reward yourself by introducing yourself to them and having a conversation with them. Who knows, you might just make a great riding friend that way.
I know you'll get in some killer intervals while you are meeting all these other nice cyclists. Have fun!
